Part 2: WRs and TE

Welcome to Part 2 of assembling the Philadelphia Stars wide receiver crop, also this article will highlight the tight end prospect the Philadelphia Stars should target as well. In part one the need for the stars to be talented, diverse and competitive, as well as being able to create severe mismatches for the opponent. The three players that will be discussed in this article fit that billing. Finally, like all the future Philadelphia Stars that been discussed in previous articles, these players all come from great football backgrounds, either competing for or winning Grey Cups in the CFL, contributing to playoff victories in the NFL or achieving all-conference and All- American Status at the collegiate level, these players football backgrounds provide a fabric from which a great culture can be built with an iron sharpens iron approach.

Starting with the future tight end for the Philadelphia Stars should target 2020 All - Mountain West tight end, Cole Turner of Nevada. Turner stands a long 6`6 and weighs a lean and mean 240 pounds, so there's no question he looks the part. Turner capped his 2021 campaign by being second in the nation and first in his conference in touchdown catches with 10 on the season. Turner has been a key part of four bowl victories over his time as a member of the wolfpack and made program history as one first of its players to be selected to the senior bowl. Turner is also an exceptional athlete being named an all- state basketball player his senior year in high school. Turner is projected to be fourth to sixth round draft choice, all could depend on his performance at an always tight end rich Senior Bowl. Turner could provide a dynamic mismatch that great tight ends create, if he finds himself in a Stars uniform this spring.

An intriguing target for the stars would be Jadon Haselwood out of Oklahoma. Haselwood is a very talented young wideout with a huge upside, a former 5 star recruit out of GA, Haselwood is currently set to transfer to Arkansas, however the USFL, specifically the stars could provide an avenue for Haselwood. Haselwood flashed at times but was ultimately limited by the poor quarterback play early in the year. Haselwood could be a dynamic threat to vertically stretch the defense. Haselwood also has the perfect frame to be able to compete and win consistently in 50/50 ball situations. Finally, Haselwood brings toughness and competitiveness that could be a tone setting for the stars and help bring physicality on the perimeters in the run game.

Ricky Collins Jr. of the Toronto Argonauts could be a great finishing piece to the stars started receiving corps.  Collins Jr. played a majority of his college ball at Division II Texas A & M Commerce after having to transfer and step away from football briefly to care for his sick father. Collins Jr. started his pro career with the Green Bay Packers and has been all around CFL, including helping the Toronto Argonauts to the CFL Grey Cup players this past season. Collins Jr. would bring a great veteran presence, as well as dynamic, high tempo playmaking ability that could make him an x- factor in the star's offense.

Finally, part 1 of the future Philadelphia Stars offensive line will be out tomorrow! Part 1 will be guards and center, and part 2 will be the tackles.
