Star of the Show: The Three Potential QBs for the Philadelphia Stars

In all levels of football, the team goes as the quarterback goes, that is why for any team the selection of its quarterback is critical, especially one re-establishing itself after almost 30 years of being defunct. The quarterback position is the most difficult to play, to evaluate and to develop in all of sports, therefore it is important that the leadership of the Stars, leadership being those that are making the executive football decisions, define exactly what that player should be. Finally, the coaching staff and front office must work in concert together and execute to successfully carry out this difficult, but important, talent acquisition process.

The first of three candidates to be starting quarterback for Philadelphia Stars is Zach Collaros, starting QB of the 2021 Grey Cup Champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The former Cincinnati Bearcat has made quite the career for himself in the CFL, including a Grey Cup Title this year and leading the Hamilton Ti-Cats to a Grey Cup in 2014, his first season as a starter. Collaros also spent time briefly with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.

The second candidate is Carson Strong out of Nevada. Strong was named 2020 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year. If not for a major injury as a junior in high school which caused him to miss his entire senior campaign, Strong would have been a major west coast recruit out of Will C. Wood HS in central California. Strong possess elite size and pocket movement ability, he also possesses great anticipation and will use his football IQ and self-awareness to take care of the football. Strong could be a guy to build around for years to come.

The final candidate for starter for the Philadelphia Stars is PJ Walker of the Carolina Panthers. Walker formerly of the XFL` Houston Roughnecks and the Indianapolis Colts. Most importantly Walker is an Elizabeth, NJ native and Temple Alumni, serving as Matt Rhule`s chief and most decorated signal caller during his time as head coach. Also, Walker led what was unquestionably the most explosive offense in the XFL under June Jones and was pressed into action in both 2020 and 2021 seasons, leading the Panthers to victory both times.

All three of these players have diverse skill sets and all would bring different dimensions and identities to the Stars offense. At the end of the day the head coach, play caller, and certainly the team assembled around whoever the Stars quarterback is will play a large role in their ultimate success.
